The proposal site is located on land off Station Road and The Moors, Thatcham.
Draft proposals
McCarthy & Stone’s initial plans propose to redevelop the site with Retirement Living and Retirement Living Plus (Extra Care) apartments. The plans comprise of:
Retirement Living Accommodation (The Moors frontage)
- 40 one- and two-bedroom Retirement Living apartments for over 60s;
- Tailored communal facilities, including a Club Lounge, guest suite and landscaped gardens;
- A contemporary three and four storey building, which incorporates a high-quality palette of building materials, including locally distinctive brickwork, through coloured render, stone banding and large format glazing;
- Cycle and mobility scooter storage, with charging points
Retirement Living Plus (Extra Care) Accommodation (Station Road frontage)
- 52 one- and two-bedroom specialist Extra Care apartments for over 70s;
- Tailored communal facilities, including a Club Lounge, a wellness suite, a guest suite, a counter-service bistro restaurant and landscaped gardens;
- A mixture of traditional and contemporary design, with a more traditional approach proposed for the Station Road frontage, including a pitched roof, tile hanging, dormers, stone detail and steeply pitched gables;
- A three storey building, which incorporates a high-quality palette of building materials, including locally distinctive brickwork, through coloured render and traditional small plain tile hanging with decorative sections incorporated;
- Cycle and mobility scooter storage, with charging points.
Across the site:
- 51 on-site car parking spaces for homeowners, staff and visitors;
- New landscaping and boundary treatments, including attractive landscaped gardens for homeowners;
- A single vehicular access into the site from The Moors.
